Neonatal Special Care Unit

Why Would My Baby Need the NSCU?

About 12% of all babies in the U.S. are born prematurely. And while that's not a majority, it's a good enough reason to give birth in a hospital with all the specialized services and care your baby may need.

Babies born prematurely may be sent to the neonatal special care unit (NSCU) located at our Trinity Moline campus, or if they have difficulties during delivery or show signs of a problem in their first days of life. The Neonatal Special Care Unit offers equipment designed specifically for infants with staff specially trained in newborn care and conditions. It is the area's only level II NICU with two neonatologists on call 24/7 for the life and health of your baby.

Trinity knows some of our littlest patients can need the biggest care. Trinity NSCU offers 11 rooms with the most technologically advanced equipment. The neonatal special care unit at our Moline campus serves the entire Quad-Cities community. Larger rooms also are available to accommodate twins and triplets.  Click on the link to take a virtual tour of our Neonatal Special Care Unit.

24/7 Neonatologists

Our staff is committed to maximizing every baby's healthy outcome after birth.

Trinity BirthPlace announced that Dr. Arled Izquierdo and Dr. Sridhar Prasad have partnered in practice to provide 24-hour neonatology coverage using the area’s only local neonatologists to both Trinity Bettendorf and Trinity Moline. These partnership mean that if your baby comes early or needs specialized care, Trinity now has two of the region’s best neonatologists available to provide high-risk care locally, saving families the stress of having to travel outside the area.

Dr. Arled Izquierdo has been providing quality patient care to high risk newborns in the Quad Cities for the past 20 years. Board certified in pediatrics and neonatal/perinatal medicine, his experience and expertise has allowed many of his patients, who would have otherwise been forced to transfer out of the area,  to remain in Quad Cities hospitals.

Dr. Sridhar Prasad, another talented neonatologist who has been caring for patients for a nearly two decades, joined Neocare of the Quad Cities.

Together, the two physicians, who have a combined 37 years of experience locally, will provide round-the-clock care for Trinity’s BirthPlace in both Moline and Bettendorf.  They are available 24 hours a day for your baby.
