The CVM-Illinois Mini-Medical Academy
Area high school students who excel in math and science can apply for another hands-on learning opportunity as part of the CVM-Illinois Math & Science Initiative beginning April 1st.

The 3rd Annual CVM-Illinois Mini-Medical Academy will take place June 8-9, 2013, at Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences.  During the 2012 event students performed cataract surgery on sheep’s eyes, sutured a patch on the aorta of a heart and saw how stents were inserted.  Hands-on activities in the Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences simulation lab are also offered.  Students entering junior or senior status are encouraged to apply along with those who will graduate in the class of 2013 and enter college in the fall.  Sophomores with a strong desire to enter the health care field will be considered as well. Applicants who are chosen will receive a scholarship to cover any costs associated with their participation in the academy.

To apply for this academy, please print and complete the CVM Mini-Medical Academy application form.  All applications must be submitted no later than May 15th.   For more information, please contact Susan Wajert at (309) 779-7710 or wajertsc@ihs.org.
