Adolescent Inpatient Services
The inpatient adolescent unit is a dedicated 6-bed unit for children and adolescents ages 4-18 who need 24-hour psychiatric care for emotional, behavioral or social adaptation problems.
Family Involvement is necessary for the success of the treatment, and goes a long way in improving the patient's quality of life after treatment. The family component is designed to improve communication within families and improve parenting effectiveness. Individual family counseling sessions are held with each adolescent, his/her family and the assigned counselor. These sessions help families learn how to live in ways which promote healthy behavior and relationships.
Adolescents discharged from the inpatient unit generally continue outpatient services in group/family therapy or individual counseling. Case management by the assessment counselor continues for a period of six months while the client has begun the Aftercare Program. With proper releases signed, this counselor will have monthly follow-up contact with the adolescent, his/her parents, the patient's school and/or other referral sources.
