Patient Stories
Living with morbid obesity is extremely effortful, potentially fatal and, for many people, unnecessary. Trinity's bariatric surgery program provides those who suffer from severe obesity with an alternative to the diet plans that have failed them.
Bariatric surgery is not a miracle cure, nor is it effortless. It is a major, invasive procedure that carries its own surgical risks. Additionally, much is required of the patient: You must learn to eat right. You must exercise and learn new ways to cope with stress.
For the vast majority of our patients, bariatric surgery provides a chance to start over in life. As you lose weight, you gain health, energy, self-esteem and a sense of control. You become the person you always wanted to be. You learn to love yourself.
But don’t take it from us. Read the following stories of ordinary people who, tired of being anxious and unhappy about their weight, had bariatric surgery. If you find you need more information, call the Trinity Bariatric Institute at (309) 779-2500 or toll free at (866) 417-2500.

Terry Cook
"The whole program is great. I had been scared about giving up good food. But I'll tell you, I can still eat what I want. I just have to be careful. And I can't polish off an entire large Harris pizza by myself like I used to."
