Trinity is now UnityPoint Health | Trinity.  A new name.  A new day in health care.

For Nurses

In December of 2008, Trinity achieved Magnet™ recognition status by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the world’s largest and most prestigious nurse credentialing organization and a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association (ANA).

Less than 5% of the country’s hospitals have been recognized as a Magnet™ organization, a distinction bestowed upon hospitals whose people, processes and culture combine to set the highest standards for the profession of nursing

When choosing a career in nursing, it’s essential that you find an employer who is as committed to that quality of care as much as you are. Our patient-centered approach at Trinity creates the ideal environment for any nursing professional who wants to make a positive, lasting impact on the community.

A better environment for getting started.

Working in a progressive and collaborative environment, you’ll form solid, respectful relationships with colleagues, patients and staff. That spirit of cooperation is one reason why Trinity consistently ranks in the 90th percentile of patient satisfaction survey scores compiled by Press Ganey Associates.
If you’re just joining Trinity, you’ll find a variety of programs designed to welcome you and orient you to your surroundings. Specifically designed to increase your confidence and get you caring for patients as soon as possible, you’ll learn to grow in a mentoring environment.

A better opportunity to advance.

We want our nurses to stay excited about their employment at Trinity, which starts with professional development and growth opportunities. We want our nurses to expand their talents and become more comfortable with their surroundings. In addition to the programs below, tuition reimbursement also is available.

Preceptor Program

In this program, we team a new hire with an experienced Trinity nurse. Working side by side on the same shift, the preceptor will orient new nurses to their unit, tailoring the entire program to the individual’s needs and experience level.

Clinical Advancement Program

All nurses advance along a four-level continuum of clinical competencies, from novice to expert. Defined behaviors of clinical performance guide the staff nurse in demonstrating necessary proficiencies throughout their career with Trinity.

Trinity College of Nursing and Health Sciences: The college provides a learner-centered environment that emphasizes transcultural health care concepts. The program offers flexibility for working RNs, multiple-semester entry, small class sizes, online courses and individualized attention from faculty. Our Bachelors of Science in Nursing is an RN-BSN program with advanced education for the Registered Nurse. We also have a two-year program available.

Continuing Education: Trinity College and our Education Department support the need for both initial and ongoing education of our health care team members. Continuing education opportunities are offered on a regular basis to the health care team to maintain, improve and expand relevant skills and knowledge.

Clinical Care/Case Management Model is based on Zander's principles provides for a rich, collaborative practice in an interdisciplinary setting where patient priorities are “graphed” to guide daily care delivery.  Technological advancements assist you in providing safe and efficient care with the use of spectralink communication devices, bar code scanning for medication administration, computers on wheels and “minimal lift” equipment at the bedside.

To support your professional growth, Trinity boasts a Clinical Advancement Program founded on Benner's Model of Novice to Expert.  Personal demonstration of differentiated interpersonal, clinical and leadership skills earns you an opportunity for advancement `along a four-level continuum of recognition and compensation.  Additionally, Nursing Journal Club, Grand Rounds, National Certification support and Continuing Education funds all enrich your professional growth.  Pursuit of a BSN at Trinity College is fully supported through 100 percent tuition-reimbursement for full time nurses.
