Trinity’s Expert Team
The staff of the Trinity Bariatric Center is one of the region’s most experienced. They’ve received extensive specialized training that allows them to help patients make the right choices and succeed. Pre-screening assessment, education, nutritional counseling and postsurgical support are all important parts of our comprehensive program. More than 3,000 patients have benefited from Trinity’s surgical weight loss services and programs.
Each of our highly qualified surgeons is board-certified, with significant experience in both general and bariatric surgery. They’ve performed both traditional and laparoscopic procedures at Trinity as independent practitioners who treat patients referred by the Trinity Bariatric Center.
Trinity Bariatric Center Multidisciplinary Team
James E. Schrier, M.D. is a board-certified general surgeon. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa, College of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at University of Iowa Hospitals. His clinical interests include Bariatric Surgery and Laparoscopic Surgery. Dr. Schrier serves as the Medical Director for the Trinity Bariatric Center.
Melinda M. Hass, M.D. is a board-certified general surgeon. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa, College of Medicine and completed her residency at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. Her clinical interests include Bariatric Surgery, Reconstructive Surgery, Laparoscopic Colon Surgery, Breast Surgery, Abdominoplasty, Laparoscopic Gastric Band Placement and Upper and Lower Endoscopy.
William E. Olson, M.D. is a board-certified general surgeon and has been in practice at Trinity since 2007. Dr. Olson is a graduate of the University of Illinois, College of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Southern Illinois University. His clinical interests include advance laparoscopic techniques, endoscopy, breast health, skin cancer and he is trained in SILS and robotic surgery. Dr. Olson actively seeks out and studies the latest research to improve surgical care for his patients.
Lynne Coffey, ARNP graduated from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb with her Master of Science in Nursing in 2011 and Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2006. She is the newest member of the bariatric team and has a background in Women and Children’s healthcare. She is eager to help patients learn how to live healthier lifestyles and excited to help them meet and exceed their individual goals.
Gary Brent Ludwig, Ph.D, is a Licensed Psychologist who is on the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. He completed his Internship in Professional Psychology at Utah State University Counseling Center. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri in Kansas City in 1999. He is currently affiliated with Southpark Psychology, Ltd. in Moline. Dr. Ludwig is a consulting member of Trinity Bariatric Center’s multi-disciplinary team. He provides pre-surgical psychological evaluations and provides on-going psychological care for patients undergoing bariatric surgery.
Dr. Amanda Motto attended Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine for her medical education. She completed her residency with Trinity in the Family Practice Residency Program. As a family medicine physician, Dr. Motto focuses on healthcare for the entire family in her practice. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys friends, family, and attending sports events (especially Iowa Hawkeye events). Dr. Motto is a consulting member on our multidisciplinary team. She also provides care for our patients in her Bettendorf clinic.
Carmin Gallops, a registered and licensed dietitian joined the Trinity Bariatric team in 2010. She is a member of the American Dietetic Association and the Weight Management dietetic practice group. She holds a Master of Science degree in Nutrition & Physical Activity from James Madison University and Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from Olivet Nazarene University. At Trinity, Carmin provides nutrition counselling for weight management, cardiovascular nutrition, and diabetes education.
Sara A. Neyens BSN, RN, CGRN is the Bariatric Center Manager and Program Administrator. Sara received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Trinity College of Nursing and Health Sciences in Rock Island. She joins the team with a background in Gastroenterology Nursing. She is a member of the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates as well as the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Sara is dedicated to the success of each individual patient and is excited to provide support and assistance to all program participants.
Jana Kindred, Office Coordinator for the Trinity Bariatric Center. Jana has 20 years of experience in the Health Care Industry, the last 14 at Trinity Medical Center. Jana is honored to be part of such a life changing event in the lives of our patients. She looks forward to meeting and helping our patients make this journey as successful as possible.
Tamara Parboosingh is Administrative Support for the Trinity Bariatric Center. Tamara has a Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) from the University of Victoria in Canada and is currently working on her Masters in Science in Public Health from Western Illinois University. Tamara is excited to join the Bariatric team and looking forward to bringing her clinical experience and administrative assistant knowledge to the team and to the patients as they go through the Bariatric journey.
